Jon Gosselin Shares His Experience with Pulmonary Embolisms Before Wedding to Stephanie

Jon Gosselin Faces Health Scare Ahead of Wedding
Jon Gosselin recently shared alarming news about his health, revealing that he was diagnosed with two bilateral pulmonary embolisms just weeks before marrying Stephanie Lebo in November 2025.
Speaking at a Sundance Film Festival event, where he was DJ’ing, Gosselin disclosed the details of his health crisis to the Daily Mail. The father of eight experienced a severe pain in his leg, which quickly escalated to his upper shoulder.
"I coughed up what looked like silly putty during a coughing fit," Gosselin recounted, realizing something was amiss. Concerned by his symptoms, he drove himself to the hospital, where an MRI confirmed the diagnosis.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot obstructs an artery in the lung, impeding blood flow, and a bilateral pulmonary embolism means this blockage occurs in both lungs.
"I’m on heart meds, blood pressure meds, aspirin, and then I take Eliquis—a drug that prevents blood clots," Gosselin explained. He emphasized the gravity of his situation: "If I had just stayed home that night, I could have had a real pulmonary embolism and just died."
Gosselin mentioned that his children Hannah and Collin were "freaked out," and his fiancée Stephanie was "scared to death" during this ordeal. While he has since recovered, he faced a daunting $20,000 medical bill, which he discussed with healthcare strategist Rachel Strauss to better understand the itemized charges.
"If you get the itemized bill and you have the dropdown codes for every procedure that’s done, they have all the healthcare coding under each big procedure," Gosselin detailed. “It’s all broken down, and she could explain what that code was.”
Sharing these experiences, Gosselin’s story raises awareness of health-related emergencies and the complexities of medical billing, a topic that resonates with many.
