Johnny Depp’s Stunning New Look: Embracing Wispy Gray Hair
Johnny Depp Transforms for New Role in London Filming of Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol
Johnny Depp was spotted in London on January 28 while filming for the upcoming adaptation of A Christmas Carol, titled Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. The actor’s striking transformation for the role has left some fans struggling to recognize him.
In the photos captured on set, Depp donned a Victorian dressing gown and matching nightcap, showcasing wispy gray hair and a similar shade of facial hair. This dramatic change underscores his commitment to portraying Ebenezer Scrooge, a character emblematic of the Christmas spirit’s struggle against bitterness and negativity.
Depp’s return to film marks a significant milestone after a seven-year hiatus, with Ebenezer being his first project since 2019’s Waiting for the Barbarians. He has not appeared onscreen since he portrayed Gellert Grindelwald in 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, a role he was later replaced in for the third film in the franchise, released in 2022.
Filming alongside Depp is Andrea Riseborough, who is set to play the Ghost of Christmas Past. Her ethereal costume featured a stark white dress, complemented by white body paint, enhancing the film’s thematic elements.
Depp’s absence from Hollywood followed a highly publicized defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard. Following a six-week trial, Heard was found liable on all three counts of defamation in June 2022, leading to a settlement between the two.
During a recent red carpet appearance, Depp expressed his enthusiasm for A Christmas Carol, stating, "The Alastair Sim version… is one of my favorite films of all time. His performance is like—I mean, it’s perfection… I’m really, sort of, interested in finding a different angle of Scrooge."
Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol is set to release later this year, reigniting interest in Depp’s artistic journey as he embraces a pivotal role in cinematic history.
