John Waters Hints at His Role in ‘American Horror Story’: A Playful Nod to Vincent Price’s Legacy
John Waters Joins Season 13 of ‘American Horror Story’
As Ryan Murphy gears up for the launch of Season 13 of American Horror Story, a notable addition to the cast has emerged. Acclaimed filmmaker John Waters has disclosed that he will take on “a big new part” in the highly anticipated series, slated to premiere in 2026.
Waters shared the news during a Valentine’s Day spoken word performance in his hometown of Baltimore. "I can’t say what role, but I have a big new part in American Horror Story," he said, as reported by the Baltimore Fishbowl.
The renowned director, often referred to as the "Pope of Trash," humorously reflected on his past roles, stating, “I’m typecast. I’m always either the devil or Chucky’s father… I’ve always been trying to steal Vincent Price’s career.”
Murphy had previously teased the upcoming season last Halloween, revealing an impressive lineup of cast members in October. The initial casting announcements included Ariana Grande, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and Jessica Lange.
In a playful nod to fans, the teaser for American Horror Story Season 13 quoted a memorable line from Roberts’ character Madison Montgomery: “Surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.”
Waters’ involvement marks a significant milestone in his career, extending his legacy within the horror genre. He has previously appeared in many of his own films and notable horror roles, including Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat (2002), Seed of Chucky (2004), and Suburban Gothic (2014), in addition to a recent episode of the Chucky series.
Fans of American Horror Story can look forward to Waters’ debut in this latest installment, which promises to continue the series’ tradition of blending horror with captivating storytelling.
