John Nolan, Actor from ‘Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Person of Interest,’ Passes Away at 87
John Nolan, an actor known for his roles in Dark Knight Rises and Person of Interest, has passed away at the age of 87. His death was reported on Saturday by the Stratford-upon-Avon Herald.
John was the uncle of filmmakers Christopher and Jonathan Nolan. His wife, Kim Hartman, shared her thoughts with the publication, describing him as “a free spirit, who always knew what he wanted and acted on his own terms; the only truly original thinker I think I ever knew. Articulate, intelligent and with an anarchic wit, he was always willing to see both sides of an argument.”
Hartman added, “He was also the kindest person I ever knew – and animals loved him too! John was a popular and talented teacher, whether explaining a Shakespeare soliloquy or how to swing a golf club, and was devoted to his family.”

Born on May 22, 1938, in London, Nolan trained at the Drama Centre before taking on the male lead in Romeo & Juliet at Richmond Theatre, alongside Francesca Annis. He later joined both the Royal Court Company and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
