Jodie Comer Takes Center Stage in New HBO Limited Series ‘The Chain’ by Damon Lindelof
Jodie Comer to Star in HBO’s Adaptation of The Chain
Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning actress Jodie Comer has been cast as the lead in HBO’s upcoming limited series The Chain, produced by Damon Lindelof and Media Res. Comer, known for her roles in Killing Eve and 28 Years Later, will portray Rachel, a suburban mother faced with an unimaginable dilemma when her daughter is kidnapped.
Lindelof, the series’ writer, executive producer, and showrunner, is expanding on the mythology of the story, which is adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name by Adrian McKinty. The pilot script was co-written by Lindelof and Carly Wray, based on a story conceived by Lindelof, Wray, and Breannah Gibson.
Executive producers for Media Res include Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer, with Shane Salerno, Breannah Gibson, and Joe Iberti also on board. McKinty will serve as a co-executive producer for the project.
The Chain secured a series order from HBO in January, where Lindelof has an overall deal.
Comer first gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of the sociopathic assassin Villanelle in BBC America’s Killing Eve, a role that earned her both an Emmy and a BAFTA TV Award. She received a second BAFTA for her performance in the 2021 Channel 4 film Help. More recently, she appeared in Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later and has upcoming roles in The Death of Robin Hood, The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde, and Stuffed. She is represented by Independent Talent Group and WME.
