Jessie Murph Reflects on “Blue Strips” Collaboration with Sexyy Red
Jessie Murph has shared insights into the creation of her hit song "Blue Strips" and the vibrant music video for its remix featuring Sexyy Red. Despite the song’s suggestive lyrics, Murph admits she hasn’t spent much time in strip clubs, expressing a desire to change that soon.
The process of crafting "Blue Strips" brought joy to the 21-year-old singer. Released earlier this year as part of her album Sex Hysteria, the track became her highest-charting single, peaking at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, significantly boosted by the remix featuring Sexyy Red.
The music video, set in a lively Nashville bar, captures the duo’s dynamic energy as they celebrate with exuberant performances. "That day was so great. Shooting a music video with her was one of my favorite music videos ever," Murph noted.

Murph describes Sexyy Red as "such a gem of a person" and characterized the shoot as "magical." An enthusiastic admirer of the rapper, Murph revealed that she has even incorporated "Get It Sexyy" into her pre-show playlist.
While she has enjoyed her experiences at strip clubs, Murph acknowledges that she hasn’t had the chance to revisit the atmosphere since shooting the video. "I’ve been to two, and I’ve loved it every time. I need to get back in there, but I’ve been quite busy. But my next free weekend, maybe I’ll go to the strip club," she expressed.
Having successfully collaborated with several artists, including Maren Morris and Jelly Roll, Murph is hopeful for future partnerships. “My dream collab was Lil Baby for a long time,” she said. Reflecting on the challenges of collaborating with deceased artists, she added, “A lot of my favorite artists are dead, so it’s kind of tough. I love Chris Stapleton’s voice a lot, so maybe that… It’d be nice.”

Recently, the "1965" artist collaborated with Sonic on a limited-time promotion, allowing fans to order her specially crafted drink: a regular Coca-Cola with strawberry fruit and sweet cream. Murph shared her nostalgia for the chain, stating, "I have an obsession with really sweet sodas. I just love them. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been going there. My grandmother used to take me and my mom, and it was a very big part of my childhood."
