EXCLUSIVE: Jesse Garcia Joins HBO Max Pilot ‘American Blue’
Jesse Garcia, known for his roles in Flamin’ Hot and Narcos: Mexico, has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming HBO Max pilot American Blue.
In this new drama, Garcia will portray Kevin Martinez, a detective grappling with trauma from a recent case as he navigates the challenges of everyday life.
Garcia joins an ensemble cast led by Milo Ventimiglia, who will play Brian Milkovich. The lineup also includes Kelly Jenrette as Meg Jackson, Carlito Olivero as Mike Ortiz, Onye Eme-Akwari as Darryl Andrews, Jess Gabor as Suze Dombrowski, and Eddie Kaye Thomas as Sergeant Paul “PJ” Booker. Additional key roles will be filled by Paulina Olszynski as Lisa ‘Matty’ Matichak, Algee Smith as Andre Quick, Jeremy Bobb as Joe Bebar, and Rich Sommer as Ray Kaluza.
The one-hour drama centers on Brian “Milk” Milkovich, portrayed by Ventimiglia, who returns to his hometown of Joliet, Illinois, to rescue a struggling police department while seeking his own redemption.
The project was first announced in January, with HBO Max developing the cop drama under the creative guidance of Jeremy Carver, known for Supernatural. David Ayer will direct the pilot.
Carver not only writes but also executive produces the series alongside Brian Udovich, Neil Reynolds, and Ayer. Ventimiglia serves as co-executive producer along with his longtime partner, Russ Cundiff, who will also produce the pilot. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.
Garcia is represented by Mosaic, Independent Artist Group, and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.
