Broadway actor Jeremy Jordan will replace Jonathan Groff in the acclaimed musical Just in Time, set to begin performances on April 21. This transition follows Groff’s last performance on March 29, where he earned a Tony nomination for his portrayal of music legend Bobby Darin.
Jordan, at 41 years old, is prepared for this significant role ahead of his recent performances in The Great Gatsby, demonstrating his versatility and dedication to the stage.
"I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome Jeremy Jordan to Just in Time—his talent, charisma, and emotional fearlessness make him the perfect artist to step into the role of Bobby Darin," said director Alex Timbers. He further expressed excitement about adapting the show to suit Jordan’s unique gifts.
Jordan’s prior performance accolades include playing Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby, a role he has embraced since its inception in 2024. He is scheduled to conclude this performance on March 7 before transitioning into the character of Bobby Darin.
The musical Just in Time explores Darin’s transformation from a teen idol to a renowned global artist, featuring iconic songs such as "Beyond the Sea," "Mack the Knife," and "Splish Splash." Timbers highlighted, "Watching Jeremy bring Bobby’s swagger, vulnerability, and musical brilliance to life on Broadway is going to be electric."
Jordan’s credentials extend beyond Broadway; his work includes roles in television series such as Supergirl and Smash, and he has participated in various Off-Broadway productions.
The original cast recording of Just in Time is nominated for Best Musical Theater Album at the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards, marking a significant moment in the production’s journey.
