LOS ANGELES — Jennifer Lopez made a striking fashion statement at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala, where she was awarded the prestigious Equity in Entertainment Award. The actress attended the event on December 3, donning an oversized brown blazer worn unbuttoned, leaving her entirely topless underneath—a bold choice that paired elegantly with a matching pencil skirt and suede stilettos.

Amid her fashionable appearance, Lopez took to the stage to accept her award from fellow actress Kerry Washington, who won the same accolade in 2023. "Thank you to The Hollywood Reporter for this Equity in Entertainment Award. I really am honored," she expressed during her acceptance speech. "When we talk about equity in entertainment, I, like so many others in this room, speak from experience."

Lopez reflected on the challenges she faced early in her career, describing herself as an "underdog." She recounted how stereotypes attempted to limit her potential before she had the opportunity to showcase her abilities. "I saw how stereotypes try to box me in before I even had the chance to show what I could really do," she noted.

Furthermore, Lopez addressed ongoing barriers in Hollywood, particularly the struggle for Latina actresses. "Yet, decades later, there was still resistance to a Latina leading a studio movie and having to work so incredibly hard to prove that we can carry romantic comedies and thrillers and command a stage," she remarked. "Hoping that with each role, the myth of it can’t be done, evaporated just a little bit more, that representation rearranges the boundaries of imagination for a new generation."

Lopez also highlighted significant moments in her career, including her roles in the acclaimed 1997 biopic Selena and Marvel’s Kiss of the Spider Woman, where she portrayed Ingrid Luna. In her speech, she concluded with a commitment to continue pushing for greater representation: "I promise to keep pushing, keep imagining, keep insisting on a world where everyone gets to take up space."
