Los Angeles Premiere Celebrates Curtis’s Latest Film
Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest made an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of Curtis’s new film, Ella McCay, on December 9. Their outing is particularly significant as it occurs just days before they celebrate their 41st wedding anniversary on December 18.
At 67, Curtis joined a star-studded cast in Ella McCay, which includes Emma Mackey, Albert Brooks, Woody Harrelson, and Julie Kavner. The film is set to be released in theaters on December 12.
The couple showcased a united front on the red carpet, holding hands as they posed for photographs. Curtis opted for an elegant all-black outfit, while Guest complemented her look with a navy blue suit and black shoes, forgoing a tie.
Curtis and Guest first crossed paths in 1984 and married six months later. Reflecting on their long-lasting relationship, Curtis reminisced about the moment Guest revealed his intentions to propose—albeit in a humorous manner. "Do you like diamonds?" he casually asked, and later proposed in a more intimate setting.
During an interview with AARP The Magazine, Curtis expressed her admiration for her husband’s sense of humor. “I married the funniest dude on the planet," she noted. “Christopher Guest can drop me to the ground with a look, let alone a phrase."
Their marriage, which includes two adult daughters, boasts a balance of public and private life, as Curtis pointed out that Guest prefers a more low-key approach to fame. When asked about the key to their enduring partnership, she succinctly stated, “’Forever.’ That’s the term, right? That’s what you’ve vowed to.”
Both Curtis and Guest have been active in the entertainment industry this year. Guest’s rare film appearance saw him reprising his role in Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, while Curtis appeared in Freakier Friday and the fourth season of The Bear.
Ella McCay will hit theaters on December 12.
