James McAvoy Stars in Sky’s Adaptation of Frankie Boyle’s Meantime
Acclaimed actor James McAvoy is set to lead Sky’s adaptation of comedian Frankie Boyle’s novel, Meantime. The series features a notable cast including Benedict Wong, Mark Bonnar, and Christopher Eccleston.
Meantime centers on the character Felix McAveety, portrayed by McAvoy, who is a full-time addict entangled in a web of suspicion after his best friend is discovered murdered in a Glasgow park. As the police identify him as a prime suspect, Felix, engulfed in intoxication and paranoia, embarks on a mission to prove his innocence. He seeks assistance from an aging former Detective Inspector turned crime novelist, played by Josette Simon, and a chaotic friend, Jamie Michie.
Frankie Boyle, a familiar face in British comedy, collaborates with Neil Webster to adapt the novel for Happy Tramp North and Expectation, in partnership with Sky Studios. This project follows Sky’s previous adaptation of Nick Cave’s The Death of Bunny Munro, which featured Matt Smith in the lead role.
The upcoming series will be highlighted at a Sky event in London this evening. It is directed by Jon S. Baird and produced by Eric Coulter, with executive producers including Boyle and Webster for Happy Tramp North, Nerys Evans for Expectation, Alex Moody for Sky, along with McAvoy, Baird, and Coulter.
