Caitlin Hughes and Pat King Start Their New PR Agency, Sound & Vision
Veteran Indie Film Publicist Launches New PR Firm
Caitlin Hughes, a prominent figure in indie film publicity, has partnered with longtime collaborator Pat King to establish a new public relations firm, Sound & Vision. The announcement marks a significant development in their already established relationship, as Hughes has operated her former agency under the Caitlin Hughes PR name since 2017, bringing King on board in 2022.
Sound & Vision aims to strengthen its representation within the indie film sector while also venturing into music and live performance. King will lead the music PR division, leveraging his extensive background as an entertainment journalist, including a previous role as features editor at Metro New York and Metro Boston.
Hughes’s former clients at Caitlin Hughes PR have included notable names such as Drafthouse Films, Oscilloscope, Utopia, FilmRise, Yellow Veil Pictures, Narrative, Nitehawk Cinemas, Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn, BAMcinemaFest, Indie Memphis, and PBS’s long-running docuseries POV.
Reflecting on the mission of Sound & Vision, Hughes emphasized the importance of impactful press coverage. “If press doesn’t move the needle for a given project, it’s not worth our time or the artist’s time,” she stated. “It’s very rewarding to actually put in the work and the research and craft these specialized plans that get even the smallest, weirdest project noticed by the right people. And since Pat started working with me, he’s ignited a renewed curiosity and wonderment in this work.”
As Sound & Vision prepares to make its mark, the partnership between Hughes and King is poised to elevate a variety of creative projects across multiple platforms.
