James Corden to Host Nightly World Cup Show ‘After Hours’ on Fox
Former Late Late Show host James Corden is set to make a temporary return to late-night television with a new program. Corden announced the upcoming show, titled FIFA World Cup 2026 After Hours On Fox With James Corden, during the Fox upfront presentation alongside Michael Strahan.
“It’s going to be me, former England soccer captain Rio Ferdinand and one of my favorite comedians on planet Earth, Ian Karmel,” Corden stated. “Every night after the games, we’re going to be trying to have a lighthearted look at the World Cup, talking about the games, talking about anything that may have happened that day.”
The FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Corden expressed his deep passion for soccer and his loyalty to West Ham United. “Soccer is a massive part of my life,” he remarked. “It really feels like now is an incredible time for North America to be hosting this tournament, and we’re going to really try and have some fun.”
During the upfront presentation, Strahan casually asked Corden why he chose to work with Fox. Corden quipped, “Because they got the rights to the games. I can’t stress this enough, if they didn’t have the rights to the games, I’d do this show on the network that did so.”
Corden hosted CBS’s The Late Late Show from 2015 until 2023.
