ITV America Considers Bringing ‘Love Island’ to the Big Screen
EXCLUSIVE: Love Island has emerged as one of the most significant reality television franchises in recent years.
Speculation is growing about whether the popular series featuring eligible singles might make the leap to the big screen. ITV America is actively contemplating this prospect, envisioning potential stars like Sydney Sweeney, Kristen Bell, or Chloe Fineman stepping into roles alongside Ariana Madix, the show’s host.
The show’s success in the United States, particularly following a breakthrough Season 6 last year, has been described as a “lightning bolt” by ITV America’s leadership. The realization that Love Island functions more as a sport than a traditional television program has fueled this new direction.

“Why are we not taking Love Island and figuring out how we’re going to translate that into the movie world?” he asked. “There may be something going there. I can’t even begin to tell you what it is, but there are those types of conversations.”
George recently assumed leadership for ITV America’s scripted strategy, opening the possibility of collaborating with writers to create a feature film set in the villa.
While adaptations of scripted series into feature films are common, transitioning an unscripted show like Love Island into a movie represents a new frontier. There have been films that incorporated reality television as a narrative device, such as Marc Evans’ 2002 horror film My Little Eye and Daniel Minahan’s Series 7: The Contenders, narrated by Will Arnett.
However, only The Real World has ventured down this path before, nearly 25 years ago. In 2002, MTV produced the made-for-television movie The Real World Movie: The Lost Season, directed by Jeffrey Reiner, which revolved around a fan’s obsession.
George added, “We are open to expanding the possibilities of what that brand is.”
