Isaac Mizrahi Reflects on Reunion with Gwyneth Paltrow at NYFCC Awards
In a recent interview, renowned fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi shared his thoughts on reuniting with actress Gwyneth Paltrow while portraying her character’s publicist in Marty Supreme. The reunion took place at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards on January 6, where Mizrahi presented the Best Screenplay Award to director Josh Safdie and co-writer Ronald Bronstein.
"I used to make clothes for Gwyneth in the ’90s," Mizrahi recalled fondly on the red carpet. "I swear to you, I remember when she used to come in for fittings."

Mizrahi further emphasized his admiration for Paltrow, humorously stating, "She would leave after fittings, and I’d say that girl has the most fabulous ass I’ve ever seen. She has the best ass in show business, I mean that." He added, "That’s the one thing I can remember about Gwyneth, except for the fact that she’s hilarious and so good in this."
At the awards ceremony, Mizrahi presented accolades to Safdie and Bronstein for their work on Marty Supreme, which features Timothée Chalamet as an aspiring table tennis player alongside Fran Drescher, Odessa A’zion, and Kevin O’Leary. Reflecting on the film, Mizrahi noted, "You could feel that they were making something beautiful. When it started screening, people were calling me and saying, ‘Darling, this movie is the best thing since Scorsese.’"
He remarked on the potential impact of Safdie’s work, saying, "I knew it. I had this idea that [Safdie] was making something career-shaping, you know?" Mizrahi’s connection with Safdie runs deep, as he explains, "I’ve known him since he’s a little boy. I met him at my downstairs neighbor’s. He was best friends with her son. We worked together; they made these little films in 2008. I knew him as a young filmmaker."
