Isa Briones Encourages Theatergoers to Keep Comments to Themselves: “It’s Frustrating”
Isa Briones has returned to Broadway, stepping into the role of Connie Francis in the jukebox musical Just in Time. However, her recent performances have prompted the actress to remind theatergoers that she is not her on-screen character, Dr. Trinity Santos, from the HBO Max series.
While performing at the Circle in the Square Theatre, Briones encountered audience members shouting references to her medical drama. In response to this disruption, she addressed her concerns on Instagram. “HEY HEY HEY! Once again, Broadway is not a circus,” she stated. “Do not yell whatever you want at the performers. Yelling ‘when are you going to finish your charts’ before I sing ‘Who’s Sorry Now’ is so f*cking disrespectful to the performers onstage and your fellow audience members. Y’all are pissin’ me off.”
Briones continued, urging respect for the shared space and the art being presented. “Love and light and please remember you are occupying shared spaces and watching art.”
