Influencer Kelly Stranick has openly shared her experience of having a miscarriage, marking a poignant moment in her life.
On February 3, Stranick, 30, conveyed the heartbreaking news in a candid Instagram post, accompanied by a black-and-white photograph of herself embracing her husband, Andy Stranick, with a Clearblue pregnancy test placed on the counter.
Kelly wrote, “This is unfortunately not a pregnancy announcement. Last weekend I had a miscarriage. I don’t know why this feels really awkward and embarrassing to share because as we know I’m pretty shameless when it comes to what I share, but for whatever reason that’s how it feels.”
Stranick, who married Andy in September 2023, acknowledged that her feelings surrounding the miscarriage were complex. “1 in 4 women experience a miscarriage,” she noted. “I guess I feel naive for thinking I’d be exempt from that statistic.” She admitted she had shared the news with close friends and family early on, despite the timing.
Reflecting on the experience, she commented, “I always said ‘well I’ll just tell whoever I would tell if I miscarried,’ but boy did I grossly underestimate the uncomfortable press tour of letting those people know hey jk I’m not pregnant anymore disregard. Like oooooooofffffffffff.”
Stranick elaborated on the multifaceted emotions she has encountered since the loss. “There’s so much I could say on this subject about how I’ve been feeling or the layered emotions/physical anxiety/general weirdness/guilt/shame about the last week and a half but we’d be here all day and I don’t think I could even put it into words yet,” she remarked.
She expressed gratitude for the support she has received, saying, “Thank God for Andy (another reminder to choose wisely who you spend your life with) and for my friends and family who check in without expecting a response, and aren’t expecting me to magically be over it immediately.”
Kelly added, “Anyway I’m sharing this nervously because it’s very isolating, and when it happened I immediately remembered a few brave women who had previously shared their experience and it made me feel less alone and less insane.” She assured her followers, “I know I will be okay. I know we will be okay. I know we will be parents when the timing is right or whatever they say. I do believe that.”
In concluding her message, she expressed solidarity with others who have faced similar experiences: “I get why people don’t talk about this because it’s really awkward and emotional and strange. So I share this to let you know if you ever find yourself as a fellow 1 in 4, I’m right there with ya. And for anyone reading this who has gone through it, which I’m sure there are many, you are a tough cookie and I admire your strength. Love you bye.”

Stranick and Andy met on the dating app Hinge before getting engaged in March 2022. Their engagement took place in May 2019, when Kelly was 24 years old. “He was my first and only Hinge date; talk about efficiency!” she shared, recalling her excitement about the proposal which occurred at Gurney’s in Newport, Rhode Island.
The couple’s engagement was a surprise for Kelly. “Our families were hiding inside while Andy proposed at the lighthouse out back,” she said. “I was super surprised, hence why I was wearing Converse, leggings and no makeup.” She knew the proposal was imminent but did not expect it that weekend.
Keen to share their joyous moments, Stranick posted several pictures from their engagement on Instagram, capturing the heartwarming occasion.
