Storyoscopic Films and Indochina Productions Launch BKK Films
Los Angeles-based indie production company Storyoscopic Films and Southeast Asian production services firm Indochina Productions have announced a new joint venture, BKK Films. This collaboration aims to create genre projects featuring Asian protagonists, with a primary focus on filming in Thailand while also considering projects across Southeast Asia and other international locations.
At the helm of this initiative will be Marcus Englefield and George Lee from Storyoscopic, alongside Nicholas Simon of Indochina, an Emmy and PGA nominee known for his work on The White Lotus.
BKK Films is headquartered in Bangkok and aims to produce a strong slate of films. The company’s first two projects set to enter production are:
7 Guns, a stylized gangster film featuring Andrew Koji (Street Fighter), marks the feature directorial debut of Beau Fowler, known for his work on Express Delivery. Producers include George Lee and Marcus Englefield for Storyoscopic, Nicholas Simon for Indochina, Beau Fowler, and David Mullenger for Ki Films.
Dead Run, an action thriller, also directed by a first-time feature director, Brandon Cox (Werewolves). This film will be set against Southeast Asia’s urban and rural landscapes, with producers including George Lee and Marcus Englefield for Storyoscopic and Nicholas Simon for Indochina.
Recently, the partnership produced the independent action film Blood and Dust, directed and written by Adam Sherman and featuring Jonathan Rhys Myers.
Englefield and Lee expressed their enthusiasm for the venture, stating, “The BKK Films partnership brings together Storyoscopic’s track record of delivering commercially successful independent features and Indochina Productions’ decades of expertise providing world-class production infrastructure across Thailand and the broader region. We are excited to launch BKK with such a strong slate of films and collaborate with exciting new filmmakers like Beau and Brandon, as well as talented global actors like Andrew.”
Nicholas Simon added, “The formation of BKK Films underscores our shared commitment to expanding international co-production opportunities while spotlighting Asian talent both in front of and behind the camera. By combining Storyoscopic’s development and packaging strength with Indochina’s on-the-ground production expertise, our joint venture is uniquely positioned to deliver cost-efficient, premium-scale productions tailored for the global marketplace. Together, we aim to position Thailand as a premier destination for elevated action cinema and internationally driven genre filmmaking.”
