Imogen Poots and John Reynolds Star in New Prime Video Series Adapted from the Comic ‘Sex Criminals’
Imogen Poots and John Reynolds to Star in ‘Sex Criminals’ Adaptation
Imogen Poots and John Reynolds have been announced as the lead actors in Sex Criminals, an upcoming series adaptation by Prime Video based on the Image Comics title. The project is co-created by Emily V. Gordon, Kumail Nanjiani, and Tze Chun, in partnership with LuckyChap and Amazon MGM Studios.
In this eight-episode series, Poots portrays Suze, an ordinary woman endowed with an extraordinary ability: she can stop time when she has sex. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Jon, played by Reynolds, who shares the same unique gift. Together, they embark on what many would consider an unorthodox heist—robbing banks.
Nanjiani is set to make an appearance in the series and serves alongside Gordon and Chun as showrunners and executive producers. The original comic, penned by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Chip Zdarsky, debuted in 2013.
The executive production team also includes Dani Melia of Winter Coat Films, alongside Dan Gorin for LuckyChap, and both Fraction and Zdarsky. Louie Hayes from LuckyChap is listed as a producer.
Poots recently featured in The Chronology of Water, All Of You, and Hedda. She is slated to portray Gloria Swanson in the forthcoming film Kennedy and will star alongside Matt Smith in The Salamander Lives Twice. Poots is represented by WME, Entertainment 360, B-Side, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Reynolds was last seen in Seekers of Infinite Love and had a guest role in Adults. He is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Felker McGinnis & Ryan.
