IKEA is Growing in Southern California—Find Out Where It’s Happening
IKEA Announces New Store Opening in Culver City
LOS ANGELES – IKEA U.S. has revealed plans to open a new store in Culver City, marking a significant expansion in the Southern California area. The new "city-center" store is set to cover 38,050 square feet and is expected to welcome customers in 2026.
This upcoming location will be the first of its kind in Los Angeles, featuring a smaller-format design intended to provide a closer shopping experience for urban residents. It will include a central planning area where customers can consult with experts on designing various spaces, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
While the Culver City store will be smaller than IKEA’s traditional blue-box warehouses, it will offer 3,000 in-stock items, including home accessories and 600 smaller furniture pieces. The store will also feature the beloved IKEA Café, serving favorites like Swedish meatballs, cinnamon buns, and veggie dogs.
The announcement coincided with IKEA’s 2025 Annual Summary, which highlighted strong sales despite the challenges posed by inflation and shifting consumer confidence. The company reported $5.3 billion in total sales for the 2025 fiscal year, with $1.9 billion attributed to e-commerce. Additionally, the IKEA Family Rewards program experienced a notable 17% increase, reaching 25 million members.
Rob Olson, Interim CEO of IKEA U.S., stated, "FY25 was a year of meaningful connection and growth despite a challenging external environment. We strengthened our ability to serve customers through new store formats, digital innovation, and expanded rewards, all while reinforcing our commitment to communities and the environment."
Looking ahead, this new store will be the 11th IKEA in California and the 10th in Southern California, joining existing locations in Burbank, Carson, Costa Mesa, and Covina. Nationally, IKEA is also on track to open locations in Huntsville, AL; University Park and Rockwall, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Chantilly/Dulles, VA; and Houston–Webster, TX by 2026.
