- High school sweethearts Kayla Sentell and Trenton Miller found love again through Spotify playlists.
- The couple married in Las Vegas on November 13, crediting the platform with their reunion.
- Following their breakup, they communicated solely through song titles for several months.
Using music as a conduit for communication, former lovers Kayla Sentell and Trenton Miller have rekindled their romance, leading to their recent marriage.
The pair, who were involved in a tumultuous 12-year relationship, permanently parted ways in February 2024. However, eight months later, Sentell felt an emotional pull toward Miller and wanted to reconnect. Acknowledging they both remained off social media, she turned to his Spotify page.
To her surprise, Sentell discovered a playlist titled “alasKa.” Filled with songs significant to their shared history, the capitalized “K” hinted they’d been thoughtfully curated for her. “I felt every emotion in the world at the same time when I saw alasKa,” Sentell told PEOPLE. “Excitement, anxiety, joy, fear, hope, insecurity, peace. I knew I wouldn’t reach out to him, but I had to do something.”
In response, Sentell crafted her own playlist titled “This is about you,” incorporating tracks from Miller’s playlist to unmistakably signal its purpose. The last three song titles conveyed an urgent message: “If You See This,” “Call Me,” “I Wanna Be Yours.”

Meanwhile, Miller, also missing Sentell, quickly recognized her song references when he checked his Spotify page. “I made my ‘sad boy playlist’ to listen to songs that reminded me of our relationship, not thinking she’d see it,” he recounted. He expressed both shock and excitement upon discovering her outreach. “We had agreed not to talk and let each other go,” he said.
After consulting a friend who suggested that “This is about you” was a Taylor Swift reference, Miller felt compelled to respond similarly. After a week of contemplation, he updated his playlist with songs titled “If You See This,” “Speak Now,” and “I Want You Back.”

Feeling encouraged by Miller’s response, Sentell checked back on November 3, 2024, and saw the updated playlist. That same morning, she reached out, and the two reconciled. Almost one year later, they became engaged.
“Throughout our 10-plus year relationship, in all its phases—friends, dating, barely talking—we wrote letters to each other. I proposed surrounded by our decades’ worth of letters to each other,” Miller shared.
Three weeks before their wedding, Sentell expressed her gratitude to Spotify, highlighting how the platform brought them together. During their wedding at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Spotify surprised the couple with a video message from singer Teddy Swims, who congratulated them and shared well wishes. Notably, one of his songs, “You’re Still The One,” was part of Sentell’s playlist.

Expressing her delight, Sentell remarked, “That was such a fun surprise! It’s so sweet to have so many cool players involved in our love story!”
As newlyweds, the couple continues to update their playlists, celebrating their relationship’s journey through music. “It’s been incredible to visually experience our relationship’s growth through songs as the playlists evolve,” Sentell added.
