Lily Allen Promotes Her New Album ‘West End Girl’ with Unique USBs Inspired by Playful Designs
Lily Allen has introduced a new line of flash drives that feature the songs from her latest album, West End Girl. However, these unique items may raise eyebrows at retailers, as they bear a striking resemblance to a certain type of adult toy.
Allen made the announcement on Instagram on December 3, unveiling a photo of herself glamorously displaying one of the blue, polka-dotted USB drives. In her caption, she casually referred to it as a “limited merch drop, live now.”
Available on her website for $33.99, the description for the USB drives states, “This product is a novelty USB device intended for data storage only.”
This release follows closely behind the album drop approximately six weeks ago, marking Allen’s return after a seven-year hiatus. While she describes the songs on the album as a blend of fantasy and reality, many listeners speculate that her divorce from actor David Harbour significantly influenced the lyrics.
One standout track, “Pussy Palace,” references discovering a partner’s hidden bag filled with intimate items. Allen sings, “Sex toys, butt plugs, lube inside… How’d I get caught up in your double life?” In another part of the album, she narrates her experiences with a partner who pressured her into an open relationship that ultimately led to heartbreak. Allen and Harbour were married for four years before their separation in February.
Reflecting on her creative process, Allen shared on CBS Mornings in November, “I wasn’t even really thinking about it as, like, a commercial endeavor. It was an act of desperation, actually… Since I’ve put it out, it’s felt completely and utterly liberating.”
As of now, Harbour has not publicly commented on the album.
