House Of The Dragon Season 3 Trailer: Tensions Rise Within House Targaryen
A tumultuous struggle is escalating within the fractured House Targaryen as Season 3 of House of the Dragon approaches. HBO released the first trailer on Thursday, offering fans a preview of the dramatic events to come.
Aemond Targaryen, portrayed by Ewan Mitchell, declares, “The king has abdicated the throne. A new line is coming. A new line of unsullied kings.”
The upcoming season will prominently feature the brutal Ballet of the Gullet, a key conflict igniting the civil war within House Targaryen. This turmoil follows the death of Prince Lucerys Velaryon at the end of Season 1. Initially intended for Season 2, this pivotal battle was shifted to Season 3 due to a reduction in the episode count from ten to eight.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, delving into the history of House Targaryen.
The returning cast for Season 3 includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, and Abubakar Salim.
New to the cast this season are Tommy Flanagan as Lord Roderick Dustin and Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly, joining previously announced cast member James Norton as Ormund Hightower.
Directing duties for Season 3 are shared by Clare Kilner, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Andrij Parekh, and Loni Peristere.
Co-creators Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin will serve as executive producers, with Condal also functioning as showrunner. Other executive producers include Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett.
The premiere of House of the Dragon Season 3 is scheduled for June 2026.
