Reflecting on a scene where her character, Sam, interacts with Austin, played by Chad Michael Murray, Duff recounted Mae’s confusion over a plot point. “My 4-year-old has watched this movie and also picked up on like, how could he not know it’s you in that mask? And I was like, ‘It’s the age-old question, honey,'” Duff shared. “And she’s like, ‘But it’s you. You are right there. I don’t understand. How does he not know?’ I’m like, ‘I know.'”
Duff’s family includes her son Luca Cruz, born in 2012, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie. After their separation, she began a relationship with Matthew Koma, with whom she married in 2019.
