In a series of competitive matchups Tuesday, boys’ and girls’ basketball teams showcased impressive skills across the City and Southern Sections.
Boys’ City Section Highlights
Ace emerged victorious against Lucerne Valley with a decisive 64-34 win. In another close match, AHSA edged TEACH Tech Charter, finishing 48-40. Alhambra defeated Montebello 60-54, while Alliance Bloomfield overcame Alliance Levine 36-30.
Anaheim Canyon dominated Santa Ana Foothill with an 81-56 scoreline. Animo Robinson bested Gertz-Ressler 66-53, and Animo Venice secured a 56-47 victory against New Designs Watts. Animo Watts further showcased their strength with a 68-23 win over Animo Pat Brown.
In additional highlights, Arcadia defeated Burbank Burroughs 74-56, and Artesia took the win against Whitney with a score of 63-53. Beaumont narrowly beat Cajon 49-45, and Brea Olinda triumphed 55-39 over Garden Grove Pacifica. Buena Park showcased strong performance, defeating Costa Mesa 68-46.
Key Games in the Southern Section
Beverly Hills outlasted Culver City, winning 67-57. Colton secured a win against Arroyo Valley, finishing 59-46. Notably, Magnolia Science Academy dominated Anaheim Discovery Christian with a staggering 75-25 victory.
Palmdale Aerospace Academy edged St. Monica Academy 70-63, while Valencia delivered a commanding performance with an 86-47 win against Castaic. In an intersectional matchup, Maricopa triumphed over Shandon 83-20.
Girls’ City Section Highlights
In the girls’ competition, Animo Venice displayed a strong performance, defeating New Designs Watts 42-12. Animo Watts claimed a decisive 70-18 victory over Animo Pat Brown. Gertz-Ressler beat Animo Robinson 48-34, showcasing the growing competitive spirit among the teams.
Southern Section Girls’ Standouts
Avalon outperformed Webb with a score of 33-22. Burbank held off Hoover to clinch a 67-19 victory, while Burbank Burroughs fended off Arcadia, winning 58-37.
