Young will play Jesse, a lovable and carefree character who eschews serious commitments in a family of over-thinkers. As a member of Charles and Liz’s vampire coven since the mid-1800s, Jesse has a unique strategy: he only marries humans. Quipping, “Have fun for a while, then you get a new model,” he faces an unexpected challenge as humans are living longer than ever, now in a loving marriage with a woman who appears to be of a similar age as his mother.
This role marks Young’s return to CBS after starring in the Chuck Lorre comedy United States Of Al.
Port and Wiseman will executive produce the series alongside Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, and Jason Wang, with CBS Studios as the production partner. Filming is expected to commence soon.
Shen is currently starring in the acclaimed Broadway musical Maybe Happy Ending, which won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Musical. Her performance has garnered her the Clive Barnes Award for Theatre and various nominations including the Grammy, Drama Desk, and Drama League Awards. Recently, Shen completed filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2, set for release in May.
Parker Young’s previous work includes roles in Imposters, the Fox comedy Enlisted, and a breakout performance as Ryan Shay in ABC’s Suburgatory. He has also appeared in series like Twenties, 911 Lonestar, and Going Dutch. His upcoming film, The Way of the Warrior Kid, features him as a Navy SEAL alongside Chris Pratt.
