Harry Styles Talks About Queerbaiting While Sharing a Kiss with Ben Marshall on ‘SNL’
Harry Styles Addresses Queerbaiting Allegations During SNL Return
Harry Styles is no stranger to the spotlight and is well aware of the ongoing discourse surrounding him. In his latest appearance on "Saturday Night Live," where he served as both host and musical guest, Styles tackled the topic of queerbaiting allegations in a humorous manner.
Opening his set, Styles reflected on his early career, stating, “Back then, people seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing and some people accused me of something called ‘queerbaiting.’ But did it ever occur to you: You don’t know everything about me, Dad!” His playful jab at personal perceptions set a lighthearted tone for the night.
During his time away from the studio, the "Fine Line" artist described himself as “tremendously boring,” suggesting that “people pretend to find that [his hobbies] interesting because he’s Harry Styles.”
Adding to the humor, Styles remarked, “It’s better than the alternative,” as a paparazzi image of Prince Andrew flashed on the screen. Andrew is currently under scrutiny for his connections to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Styles expressed enthusiasm about returning to work with his new album, titled Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. He joked about the concept, saying, “What’s better than kissing all the time? Which I don’t actually do — I don’t kiss all the time.” His comment drew a reaction from cast member Chloe Fineman, who left in mock dismay.
The conversation continued, with Styles noting, “Sometimes, kissing can be great, you know, if you’re really good at it, and you’re a good person,” prompting another cast member, Sarah Sherman, to roll her eyes and storm off.
Styles further teased, “Or if you have a tight little bum,” before bringing back referenced cast member Ben Marshall into the banter. “C’mon, Ben, everyone knows there’s nothing little about that thang. You’re holding a damn wagon back there,” he quipped, leading to a comical exchange that ended with Styles leaning in for a peck with Marshall.
“Now that’s queerbaiting,” Styles concluded with a wink, encapsulating the playful spirit of the night.
The opener represents not only Styles’ cleverness in addressing controversies but also reflects his ability to blend humor with personal expression on a prominent platform.
