HARDY and the American Cancer Society achieved a significant milestone, raising over $350,000 at their Country vs. Cancer benefit concert held on December 2 at The Pinnacle in Nashville. The event featured notable performances from Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Lanie Gardner, McCoy Moore, Chase McGill, Luke Laird, Randy Montana, and Rocky Block, all rallying in support of cancer research and advocacy.
Expressing gratitude for his role, HARDY remarked, “I’m just lucky first and foremost to have a platform to stand on, to be able to support just through music.” Backstage at the event, he acknowledged the weight of the occasion, underscoring the importance of using his musical impact for good.
The headlining artist took pride in how far he had come in his career, allowing him to invite industry giants like Lambert and Bentley to share the stage. “Dierks and Miranda are both legends,” he stated, adding humorously, “I feel weird closing the night out. You know what I mean? I’m like, Jesus, these two are hall of famers.”
HARDY emphasized that his decision to include them in the lineup stemmed not from commercial considerations, but from his respect for their character. “They both care about the cause, whatever the cause may be. I just knew that they would show up for me and for this event,” he explained.
The subject of cancer resonates deeply with HARDY. He shared his personal connections to the disease, revealing how his grandmothers experienced breast cancer. “One caught it very early and beat it quickly, while the other sadly passed,” he recounted, reflecting on the emotional toll these experiences have had on him.
The concert not only raised substantial funds but also aimed to bring awareness to the ongoing fight against cancer. HARDY noted the significance of the American Cancer Society, which has dedicated over a century to improving the lives of individuals battling cancer through advocacy, research, and support.
As he concluded, HARDY expressed his commitment to the cause, stating, “I also know how scary it is because it’s one of the few things that we have today that is not only completely incurable, but also very deadly. Anything I can do to help put money into trying to figure out how to put it into it is just… I’m happy to do that.”
The successful event not only highlights HARDY’s philanthropic spirit but also reinforces the collective effort of artists in the industry to support vital causes. With over $350,000 raised, HARDY humbly acknowledged his position within the industry, crediting others for his ability to contribute meaningfully. “I just stand on the shoulders of Nashville and the music industry for putting me in a place where I could do that,” he affirmed.
