Halle Berry Shares Her Disappointment About Storm’s Absence in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ But Hints at Exciting Possibilities Ahead
Halle Berry will not participate in the upcoming mutant reunion in Avengers: Doomsday, but she remains optimistic about reuniting with her fellow X-Men in the future.
The Oscar-winning actress recently expressed her disappointment about missing out on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six. However, she indicated that she would return to the franchise “in a heartbeat” for future X-Men projects.
“Storm is a very special character to me,” Berry told ScreenRant. “I’ve been so blessed when I have gotten to play her.”
Berry elaborated, “I think the whole world of the X-Men and being mutants and outcasts. And there’ve been movies that I’ve been proud to have my children watch. They have so much to say that I thought has been really important, especially for my children as they’ve grown. So they’re beloved. And while I’m sad I won’t be in Doomsday this round, there are other rounds. And I would do that in a heartbeat.”

This marks Berry’s first absence from the franchise since her last portrayal of Storm in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Meanwhile, several of her franchise co-stars, including Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), and Channing Tatum (Gambit), have confirmed their participation in Avengers: Doomsday, set to debut on December 18, 2026.
Director Jake Schreier, who is leading Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, shared an update in August. “I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started work on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting,” he stated to Empire.
