Australian artist HAAi recently wrapped a tour across the U.S. and Mexico, performing at renowned festivals such as Arc in Chicago and Portola in San Francisco. She concluded her tour with a performance on September 21 at Philadelphia’s indie festival, Making Time, an appearance that was nearly thwarted by a flight delay.
In an effort to accommodate her late arrival, Dave P, the founder of Making Time, extended the festival’s hours to ensure HAAi could take the stage.
Rushing from the Philadelphia airport to Fort Mifflin, HAAi, whose real name is Teneil Throssell, delivered an electrifying hour-and-forty-minute set. The performance featured an array of textured productions, incorporating tracks from artists such as Yesca, Redeyes, and Ciara, along with an edit of “Goodies” around the 28-minute mark of the mix. The set concluded with a moving edit of “The Four Horsemen” by the Greek band Aphrodite’s Child, alongside her own original works.
The performance preceded the upcoming release of her second studio album, Humanise, set to drop on October 10 via Mute. The album contains 17 tracks featuring collaborations with artists like Jon Hopkins and the Trans Voices Choir. Earlier this month, the track “Stitches” from Humanise received a rework from Romy, a longtime collaborator of HAAi, who previously joined forces with her on the 2022 single “Lights Out” alongside Fred again…
