Gwyneth Paltrow recently shared a comedic anecdote involving her Marty Supreme co-star Timothée Chalamet, stemming from a humorous misunderstanding regarding his makeup for the film. During the December 2 episode of The Run-Through with Vogue podcast, Paltrow recounted how she initially believed the actor’s makeup was real.

The 53-year-old actress explained, “I look forward to playing older parts for sure… In Marty Supreme, Timothée has pockmarks, and they made his eyes beady with contacts and glasses. And it’s all makeup. And he has beautiful skin in real life… I’ve never done anything like that where I’m really transformed in the face.”

However, Paltrow did not realize this makeup was merely for the scene until she was on set. “He made a comment, and I was like, ‘Oh, you know, you can do microneedling for that,’” she recalled with a laugh, adding that Chalamet’s response was surprising: “And he’s like, ‘This is makeup!’ I was like, ‘Oh, s—.’ I didn’t realize. The makeup was so good that I thought he had little acne scars.”

Paltrow emphasized that in reality, Chalamet possesses “beautiful skin,” adding, “His skin in real life, you’re like, oh my gosh.”

In addition to her disclosure about the makeup mix-up, Paltrow addressed her recent remarks in British Vogue, where she admitted she was unaware that Chalamet was dating Kylie Jenner when he mentioned his girlfriend had two children. Responding to her children’s reactions, she humorously noted, “They don’t read my articles. Are you kidding?”

Paltrow’s two children, Apple, 21, and Moses, 19, from her marriage to Chris Martin, are known for keeping her on her toes. “I don’t remember how I found out, but they were like, ‘Mom, you are so like, are you insane? How can you not know this?’” she recounted. “But I don’t know. I just, I don’t read that kind of stuff.”
