Gunshot Victim Discovered in Car Trunk During San Marino Traffic Stop
Search Underway for Driver After Gunshot Victim Found in Trunk
Authorities are actively searching for a driver who fled the scene after a man suffering from gunshot wounds was discovered in the trunk of a car during a traffic stop in San Marino early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., an officer from the San Marino Police Department initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Los Robles Avenue and Monterey Road. Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver exited and ran eastward, evading capture.
The officer subsequently detained a man in the passenger seat and conducted a search of the trunk, where they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. First responders provided immediate medical assistance before transporting the man to a nearby hospital.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the victim is currently in critical condition, with "death considered imminent." His identity has not been disclosed, and details regarding the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.
The passenger has been identified as a person of interest in the investigation. Despite a thorough search of the area, the driver has not been located. Described as approximately 5-foot-6-inches tall and wearing dark clothing, his whereabouts remain unknown.
