Grammys See Decline in Viewership for Second Year in a Row with 14.4 Million Watching on CBS
The 68th Grammy Awards featured several historic moments, including an emotional Album of the Year victory for Bad Bunny. However, the event’s viewership declined for the second consecutive year, posing a challenge for CBS.
According to Nielsen Big Data + Panel, approximately 14.4 million viewers tuned in for the ceremony, a drop of about 6.5% from the previous year’s broadcast. This marks the second consecutive decline after the 2024 awards show reached a peak of 16.9 million viewers. Despite the decrease, the Grammy Awards remain the most-watched awards show since last year’s Oscars.
CBS highlighted that this year’s ceremony was the most socially engaged program on television over the past six months, even outpacing sports programming. The Grammys generated 74.8 million total interactions and 302.5 million video views, reflecting a strong online presence.
Hosted by Trevor Noah for the last time, the awards ceremony took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Bad Bunny made history by winning Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, marking the first time a Spanish-language album has received this honor. This win precedes his highly anticipated halftime show at Super Bowl LX.
The night was significant for several major categories, with Kendrick Lamar winning Record of the Year for his tribute “luther” to Luther Vandross, and Billie Eilish collaborating with her brother Finneas O’Connell to take home Song of the Year for “Wildflower.”
