Grace Van Patten, Sydney Chandler, Eva De Dominici, and Adria Arjona Auditioning for the ‘Superman’ Sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow’ – Latest Update
DC’s Maxima Character Set for Live-Action Debut in ‘Man of Tomorrow’
Representatives for DC have declined to comment on the upcoming project surrounding the character Maxima.
Maxima, a warrior queen from the planet Almerac, was first introduced in Action Comics #645 in 1990. Known for her quest to find a suitable mate on Earth, she quickly focuses her attention on Superman. Designed by writer Roger Stern and artist George Pérez, Maxima has been portrayed in various ways throughout DC’s comics—as an antagonist, ally, and potential love interest to Superman.
In past live-action adaptations, Maxima has appeared in the series Smallville and Supergirl, played by Charlotte Sullivan and Eve Torres Gracie, respectively. The character has also featured in Superman: The Animated Series and several animated projects, though she has yet to make her debut in a live-action DC film.
Adriana Arjona, known for her role as Martine Bancroft in Sony’s Morbius, was speculated to be in consideration for the role of Wonder Woman in the DC Universe. In an interview with Extra, director James Gunn remarked that “she’d be a great Wonder Woman,” but noted that fans may be reading too much into his social media interactions with the actress. Arjona is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Goodman Genow.
Meanwhile, actress Grace Van Patten recently completed a three-season stint as the lead in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies and starred in the limited series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. She is represented by WME, Brookside Artist Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Chandler, represented by UTA and Jackoway Austen, is gearing up for Season 2 of FX’s Alien: Earth, which begins production next month in London. She starred in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling and recently premiered Anima at SXSW.
Actress Angela De Dominici has been involved in the film Under the Stars, Forge and is set to appear in the upcoming Balls Up, directed by Peter Farrelly. De Dominici is represented by Gersh, Twelve Entertainment, and Untitled Entertainment.
The role of Maxima will join a cast led by returning actors David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, who portray Clark Kent/Superman and Lex Luthor, respectively. These characters will face a new technological alien threat known as Brainiac, played by new cast member Lars Eidinger.
Additionally, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, and Sara Sampaio are expected to reprise their roles as Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Eve Teschmacher. Eidinger is joined by another newcomer, Aaron Pierre, likely reprising his role as John Stewart/Green Lantern from HBO’s upcoming Lanterns.
Man of Tomorrow serves as a sequel to Superman, which launched the studio’s new cinematic universe. Gunn, who wrote and directed the original film, returns for this sequel, set to begin production in April in Atlanta, with a release scheduled for July 9, 2027. The initial film grossed over $618 million worldwide.
