Ja Rule and his family have become a fixture in the public eye, highlighting the rapper’s journey as a family man alongside his wife, Aisha Atkins, with whom he has three children: Brittney, Jeffrey Jr., and Jordan. The family gained additional visibility when Brittney and Jeffrey Jr. appeared on WE tv’s Growing Up Hip Hop: New York in 2019, ahead of the show’s fall premiere.
In an interview with PEOPLE Now, Ja Rule spoke about his parenting philosophy. “I want my kids to run to me, not from me,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of open communication. He added, “Nothing is off the table” when addressing challenging topics. "And I tell them all the time, it’s three people in the world you cannot lie to… your doctor, your lawyer, and me, good old dad," he continued, asserting his supportive role.
Reflecting on his parenting style in 2015, he highlighted the candidness of his children. “Sometimes they get a little too personal, but I prefer that versus not telling their parents anything,” he noted.
Ja Rule conveyed his desire for the reality show to portray a more relatable aspect of his life, stating, “People don’t see the other side of me; being a dad, a husband… I’m really a cool, laid-back, reserved, no-drama guy.”
