Leanne Morgan, humorously referring to herself as the “Mrs. Maisel of Appalachia,” has spent years raising her three children—Charlie, Maggie, and Tess—before embarking on her successful comedy career. Morgan shares her children with her husband of over 30 years, Chuck Morgan. Though her stand-up comedy did not gain traction until her 50s, she originally began selling jewelry at home parties when her children were young.
During these events, Morgan often found herself telling jokes more than selling, crafting a comedic routine influenced by her everyday experiences as a mother. “Raising babies was my main thing,” Morgan shared in August 2023, recalling her humorous takes on topics ranging from hemorrhoids to nighttime breastfeeding.
Encouraged by positive feedback from other mothers, Morgan decided to explore comedy as a career while still prioritizing her family responsibilities. “I would go [perform stand-up] on the weekends and just work around [my husband’s] schedule and the kids’ schedules. I came in third, but that was okay,” she mentioned in an interview with Travelgirl in May 2024. “I never felt that I didn’t get to do my own thing because I always wanted my family to be my first priority.”
Today, as a proud mother of three and now a grandmother, Morgan is making significant strides in the comedy scene. She has recently signed a deal with Netflix for two stand-up specials and a scripted sitcom. Morgan is currently appearing alongside Reese Witherspoon in Prime Video’s romantic comedy, You’re Cordially Invited, which premiered on January 30.

Leanne and Chuck welcomed their only son, Charlie Morgan, on August 19, 1993. Named after both his father and grandfather, Charlie embodies a familial legacy. Though Leanne harbored dreams of Hollywood, motherhood took precedence after he was born. “Seeing my son for the first time was supernatural,” she reflected in her 2024 book, What in the World?! A Southern Woman’s Guide to Laughing at Life’s Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings.
She described the moment saying, “I felt God’s presence in that room… I knew what I was put on this planet to do.” After Charlie’s birth, Leanne shifted her focus to parenting, becoming involved in jewelry sales as a side hustle to support the family without compromising her time with him.
Their bond remains strong, as Leanne often shares stories about Charlie in her routines, humorously describing him as an “old soul.” Charlie is known for his gardening, woodworking, and musical endeavors. He played football in high school and later graduated from Berry College in Georgia in 2016 with a degree in history. Currently, he works as a senior training specialist at Clayton Homes, alongside his father, while also freelancing as a writer.
Charlie married his college sweetheart, Mary, in September 2016. The couple resides in Knoxville, Tennessee, and has two sons together. Leanne often jokes about the bittersweet reality of her son starting his own family, expressing her desire to keep him close.

Maggie Morgan, born on April 3, 1996, is the middle child of the Morgan family. While she generally stays out of the spotlight, she recently sat down for an interview with her mother for an episode of Never Before Told. Leanne affectionately referred to Maggie as her "cheerleader," highlighting their close relationship.
During their candid conversation, Maggie joked about her role as the quieter middle child but expressed contentment in being the one who connects everyone. According to her LinkedIn profile, Maggie graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2018 with a degree in communication and media studies. Currently, she serves as a major gifts officer at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, further emphasizing the family’s commitment to community service, particularly in healthcare.
Tess Lucille Morgan, 28

Tess Lucille Morgan, the youngest sibling, was born on January 20, 1998. After high school, she attended the University of Tennessee but decided to drop out after experiencing challenges due to dyslexia and other learning disabilities. In a September 2024 interview, Tess explained how these obstacles influenced her decision not to return to formal education.
She took a year off to reflect on her future, during which she faced a diagnosis of thyroid cancer. Tess expressed how this life-altering experience prompted her to consider what truly mattered to her: “Why am I doing something that I hate?” This self-reflection led to the decision to forge her own path, a choice that her family wholeheartedly supported.
Leanne publicly celebrated Tess’s recovery in January 2020, sharing that she had completed her cancer treatment and was thriving. Afterward, Tess pursued her passion for cosmetology at the Make-up Designory in New York City.
Today, Tess works as a professional makeup artist, frequently collaborating with her mother on various projects, including Leanne’s upcoming self-titled Netflix sitcom, where she serves as the makeup artist on set.
