Key Details
- George Clooney has announced he will no longer engage in on-screen kissing scenes.
- This decision follows a discussion with his wife, Amal Clooney.
- The couple, married since September 2014, share two children.
George Clooney, 64, recently revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail that he plans to retire from kissing female co-stars in film. This change comes after an enlightening conversation with his wife, Amal Clooney.
“I’ve been trying to go the route Paul Newman did — ‘Okay, well, I’m not kissing a girl anymore,'” Clooney explained. He added that entering a new stage in life prompted this decision. “When I turned 60, I sat down with my wife and said, ‘Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys; I can still hang, I’m in shape. But in 25 years, I’ll be 85 years old. It doesn’t matter how many granola bars you eat, that’s a real number.'”

Clooney’s career has seen him in numerous romantic roles, including his recent film Ticket to Paradise with Julia Roberts, as well as earlier works like Intolerable Cruelty and One Fine Day.
The New York Times, Clooney spoke about a director’s feedback regarding his kissing scene with Roberts, recalling, “I remember early on in my career, I had to do a kissing scene with this girl, and the director goes, ‘Not like that.’ And I was like, ‘Dude, that’s my move! That’s what I do in real life!'”
During that same discussion, he shared that filming a kissing scene with Roberts took multiple takes. “I told my wife, ‘It took 80 takes,'” he revealed, prompting a surprised response from her.
In November, Clooney elaborated on the strength of his marriage with Amal during an interview with CBS News. “When you’re younger, you want to be right about everything… if she wants to paint the wall red, I don’t care,” he remarked, shedding light on the couple’s harmonious relationship.
