Gene’s Exciting Return: Announcing Their First North American Tour in 24 Years
Britpop Legends Gene Announce First North American Tour in 24 Years
Britpop stalwarts Gene are set to launch their first North American tour in 24 years this November. The band, which reunited in 2025, first hinted at their return with an appearance scheduled for California’s Darker Waves Festival on November 14.
The tour will include performances in key cities, such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Washington, and New York, rounding out a festive itinerary for fans across the continent.
Pre-sales for select dates are currently ongoing, with general ticket sales slated to begin on Thursday, May 14, at 10:00 a.m. local time for the Washington, D.C. show. Remaining dates will go on sale the following day, Friday, May 15, also at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
Formed in 1993, Gene gained prominence during the Britpop explosion of the 1990s, with their first two albums, Olympian (1995) and Drawn to the Deep End (1997), both achieving top-eight rankings in the UK charts. The band’s reputation extended beyond their music, earning them the inaugural Brat Award for "Best New Act" from NME.
Following the release of two additional LPs, Revelations (1999) and Libertine (2001), Gene faced challenges that led to their breakup in 2004. They reunited for a one-off show in 2008 and resumed performing in 2025 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Olympian.
