Gabourey Sidibe has expressed deep appreciation for her husband, Brandon Frankel, as the couple approaches their five-year wedding anniversary.
During the Lifetime’s Love of a Lifetime event in Los Angeles on January 28, the 42-year-old actress shared insights with PEOPLE about the substantial support she receives from Frankel.
“It’s really so fantastic; he really is my safety net. He is my security. I trust him,” said Sidibe, who married Frankel in 2021.

The Precious star and Frankel are parents to one-year-old twins, Cooper and Maya.
“If I ever need to get on a plane and go some place to work, he holds his babies down. He’s got it and he makes sure that I can FaceTime with them a couple of times a day if I want to,” Sidibe added, acknowledging Frankel’s commitment to parenting.
“He really is my backbone. He is my ultimate supporter. I’m so lucky,” she reiterated.
The actress, known for her role in Give Me Back My Daughter, and Frankel became engaged in 2020 after meeting on a dating app.

Sidibe’s heartfelt remarks come as she prepares for her directorial debut in the television film Mary J. Blige Presents: Be Happy.
Starring Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer, and Russell Hornsby, the film “explores themes of reinvention, intimacy, and the turning points that define midlife as one woman embarks on a journey to rediscover her purpose and her voice to reshape her future,” according to an official synopsis.
Mary J. Blige Presents: Be Happy is set to premiere on Lifetime on February 7.
