Santa Monica sophomore Gabi Brito made a remarkable impact at the CIF Southern Section championships, setting a Division 1 record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.74 seconds. In addition to her record-breaking performance, Brito clinched victory in the 50-yard freestyle and played a crucial role in Santa Monica’s triumphs in both the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays.

This outstanding achievement contributed to the Santa Monica girls’ 12th consecutive division championship, surpassing the previous record of 11 straight titles held by Mission Viejo. Brito’s exceptional performance highlights not only her individual talent but also the strength of the Santa Monica team.
