FX Announces Premiere Date for the Fifth and Final Season of ‘The Bear’
FX has announced the premiere date for the fifth and final season of The Bear.
The season will debut on June 25 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, streaming on FX and Hulu, and available internationally on Disney+. All eight episodes will be accessible for streaming upon release.
This announcement follows the unexpected release of a prequel episode titled “Gary,” which premiered on Hulu just a day earlier. The episode features cousins Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Mikey (Jon Bernthal) on a work trip in Gary, Indiana. Both actors co-wrote the episode, directed by series creator Christopher Storer.
The official description reveals that the episode explores the complex relationship between Mikey and Richie, offering deeper insights into Mikey’s mental state and reframing Richie’s character as introduced in Season 1.

Season 5 will also air on FX’s linear channel, beginning with two episodes and then releasing one new episode each week.
As the narrative picks up directly after Season 4, the final season delves into the aftermath of Carmy’s (Jeremy Allen White) departure from the food industry, leaving Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie, and Natalie “Sugar” (Abby Elliott) to manage the restaurant. Facing financial challenges and a looming storm, the team must come together for one last service in their bid to secure a Michelin star, ultimately discovering that the restaurant’s success hinges on the relationships built along the way.
The series has received 21 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series for its first season. It features an ensemble cast including Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Matty Matheson, along with Ricky Staffieri, Oliver Platt, Will Poulter, and Jamie Lee Curtis in recurring roles.
The Bear is created by Christopher Storer, who serves as executive producer alongside Josh Senior, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, Hiro Murai, and Rene Gube, with Courtney Storer as culinary producer. The series is produced by FX Productions.
