Free Bert Returns for a Second Season on Netflix
Netflix has officially renewed its scripted comedy series Free Bert for a second season, featuring comedian Bert Kreischer in the lead role.
The first season followed Kreischer—a shirtless performer known for his wild antics—navigating the challenges of his daughters’ acceptance to an elite private school in Beverly Hills. To fit in, he attempts to tone down his exuberant personality, leading to comedic conflicts.
Alongside Kreischer, the cast includes Arden Myrin, Ava Ryan, and Lilou Lang.
Showrunners and directors Jarrad Paul and Andy Mogel expressed their gratitude, stating, “We’re incredibly grateful to Netflix for believing in this show and giving us the chance to continue the freeing of Bert.”
Season 1 premiered on January 22 and quickly made its mark by debuting in the Global Top 10, according to the streaming platform. Filming for the upcoming season will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, a location familiar to Netflix productions like Stranger Things and Sweet Magnolias Season 5.
Free Bert is part of Netflix’s expanding comedy lineup, which also features second seasons of Running Point and The Four Seasons, along with a new comedy thriller series by Dan Levy titled Big Mistakes, and a third season of Nobody Wants This. Additionally, upcoming stand-up specials will highlight comedians Taylor Tomlinson and Derrick Stroup, while Netflix is set to revive its comedy festival in May.
Looking ahead, Kreischer is scheduled to perform at the Netflix is a Joke Festival 2026, presenting “Bert and Shaq’s Crowd Work Show” at The Comedy Store on May 8 and hosting “2 Bears 5K” with Tom Segura and Jelly Roll at The Rose Bowl on May 9.
Free Bert was co-created by Kreischer, Paul, and Mogel. The series is executive-produced by Kreischer, LeeAnn Kreischer, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Elise Henderson for Counterpart Studios, alongside Judi Marmel.
