Filming for ‘The Housemaid 2’ Begins This Fall, According to Paul Feig at the Oscars Red Carpet
Housemaid fans can look forward to a sequel, as director Paul Feig confirmed that production is set to begin this fall.
In a recent interview on the Oscars red carpet, Feig shared with Antonia Blyth that the script is currently being rewritten, stating, “we start shooting in the fall.”
The upcoming film will be based on Freida McFadden’s second novel in the series, The Housemaid’s Secret. It continues the story of Millie Calloway, portrayed by Sydney Sweeney, as she navigates a dangerous conspiracy orchestrated by her employer, Wendy Garrick, who attempts to frame Millie for murder.
Feig confirmed that Sweeney will reprise her role, alongside Italian actor Michelle Morrone, who also appeared in Feig’s film Another Simple Favor. The original installment, The Housemaid, performed notably well during the holiday season, amassing nearly $395 million at the global box office.
In addition, Feig discussed memorable moments from his past works, including the infamous food poisoning scene featuring Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids, a film that earned two Academy Award nominations, including Best Supporting Actress for McCarthy. He also touched on recent commentary regarding the review of his adaptation of Reminders of Him.

Feig addressed his thoughts on a review of Reminders of Him, stating: “Dude, this is a really out of touch review. Are you in the target audience? Does every movie you see have to get a 14-minute standing ovation in Cannes? This movie is made for romance fans and I’m predicting it’s going to do very well. These audiences are underserved and have to sit at home to watch most romances and rom-coms on streaming these days, and now they’re getting a theatrical experience they can share with their friends and others. I was at the premiere of this and the audience there ate it up. Huge cheers when the two leads first kissed. Lots of sniffles and tears at the end. Huge applause for the film. If this isn’t a genre you like then so be it or if you had issues with it then so be it too. But to take such a huge steaming sh*t on a movie that clearly wasn’t made for you is the absolute height of snobbery, I hate to say.”
