FBI Shares New Video and Photos in the Nancy Guthrie Case
The FBI has released videos and photos of a potential suspect related to the investigation of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie. This marks the first significant lead in the case since Nancy Guthrie was reported missing ten days ago.
FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the footage captures “an armed individual” near Nancy Guthrie’s front door on the morning of her disappearance. He noted that the individual appears to have tampered with the security camera. Patel emphasized that a second video, which is brief, features the same suspect approaching the front door prior to the original footage shared by the FBI.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31, when a relative dropped her off at her Tucson-area home. She was reported missing at midday on February 1.
Savannah Guthrie shared the videos and photos on Instagram, urging the public to take note. “Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home,” she wrote, adding, “Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.” In a subsequent video, Savannah appealed directly to her followers, expressing urgency and requesting their assistance in reporting any suspicious activity, regardless of their location.
According to Tucson TV station KGUN, a note sent to them by Guthrie’s possible abductors demanded $6 million by 5 p.m. Monday, including threats against her life.
Yesterday, an FBI spokesperson confirmed that no suspects or persons of interest had yet been identified in connection with Guthrie’s disappearance. The agency also indicated that there has been no communication between her family and the alleged kidnappers since her disappearance.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously noted challenges in obtaining surveillance video due to Nancy Guthrie’s lack of a subscription to the camera service, which provided archived footage. However, efforts to recover video data are ongoing, with digital experts collaborating to retrieve evidence.
The FBI has issued a $50,000 reward for information regarding the case and has placed digital billboards in Arizona and several neighboring states, including New Mexico, Texas, and California.
In a detailed statement, Patel acknowledged the collaborative efforts to recover video footage from Guthrie’s home, highlighting the finding of new images that reveal an armed individual tampering with the camera the morning she went missing.
