Fabian Munsterhjelm Teams Up with Wildhog Productions for His Feature Film Debut, ‘The Wrong Man’
Fabian Munsterhjelm to Direct Debut Feature ‘The Wrong Man’
Finnish filmmaker Fabian Munsterhjelm, known for his Oscar-listed short film Pantyhose, is making strides with his debut feature, currently titled The Wrong Man. Teaming up again with the producers from Pantyhose, Wildhog Productions, the new project is an action-comedy centered on the chaotic aftermath of a mistaken release from prison.
The film unfolds the story of Antii Mäkelä, a tax evader who is unexpectedly pardoned. Upon his release, he is mistaken for a notorious hitman sharing the same name. As he navigates the perilous world of gangsters, government agents, and a desperate president, Antii finds himself accepting dangerous offers without a clear plan for his survival. The plot thickens when the real assassin is released, forcing Antii into a frantic race against time.
Munsterhjelm co-wrote the script with Sebastian Granskog. With a budget of $2 million, the film has secured backing from the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland and is looking to partner with Cyon Media, a Finnish company specializing in Web3 technology that connects content with analytics and licensing.
Cyon Media is also responsible for distributing Pantyhose through its new streaming service and is developing blockchain-based crowdfunding to facilitate audience-driven production financing.
"I’m excited to collaborate once more with Wildhog Productions on another fantastic comedy, this time infused with action," Munsterhjelm expressed. "I aim to prove that small-budget action comedies can reach wide audiences. This film embraces its humble roots, prioritizing humor, strong characters, and deliberately outrageous effects over a hefty budget."
Producer Jenni Ripatti remarked, "This feature feels like a natural continuation of our work on Pantyhose with Fabian. Pantyhose has demonstrated its international appeal, and we are confident in turning this absurd, low-budget action film into a fun and thrilling adventure for families."
