Exciting Oscar Performances: Kpop Demon Hunters Trio to Sing ‘Golden’ Alongside Miles Caton, Shaboozey, and More for ‘Sinners’ Tribute
The 98th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will feature musical performances showcasing two major original song nominees, *KPop Demon Hunters* and *Sinners*. These performances promise to highlight the artistic talents behind the films.
Executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan announced a lineup that includes Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who will perform the hit song “Golden.” Additionally, *Sinners* star Miles Caton and songwriter Raphael Saadiq will present the emotional piece “I Lied to You.”
The *KPop Demon Hunters* performance will open with a vibrant fusion of traditional Korean instruments and dance, paying homage to the rich folklore and cultural inspirations that underlie the story featured in Netflix’s animated blockbuster.
In contrast, the *Sinners* segment will be a broader tribute to Ryan Coogler’s groundbreaking film and its distinctive visual style. Caton and Saadiq will be accompanied by renowned ballet dancer Misty Copeland, along with musicians Eric Gales, Shaboozey, Brittany Howard, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Bobby Rush, and Alice Smith. Also joining them will be co-stars Buddy Guy, Jayme Lawson, and Li Jun Li.
Kapoor and Mullan expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “This year, our music performances are inspired by two of the most powerful cultural phenomena in film: *Sinners*, the most nominated film in Oscars history, and *KPop Demon Hunters*, a global pop culture sensation. These show moments are more than just performances—they expand into cinematic tributes that celebrate the relationship between music and storytelling and why these films resonated so deeply with audiences around the world.”
The ceremony will also feature appearances by Josh Groban and the Los Angeles Master Chorale, with additional talent to be announced as the event approaches.
The Oscars are set to air live on ABC and stream on Hulu on Sunday, March 15, starting at 7 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. PT, with the red carpet coverage kicking off a half-hour earlier. The event will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood.
