Exciting New Gothic Drama Coming to AMC from Hilarie Burton Morgan
AMC Develops New Drama Series ‘The New Gothic’ with Hilarie Burton Morgan
AMC continues to explore the rich tapestry of Southern storytelling with its new drama project, The New Gothic. The series, inspired by the region’s legendary narratives, is being developed by actress Hilarie Burton Morgan, known for her role in One Tree Hill.
Burton Morgan is collaborating with Nick Gray on the writing, and they are producing the series through her company, Mischief Farm, which she co-founded with her husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, a star of The Walking Dead.
This project enhances Burton Morgan’s ongoing partnership with AMC Networks. She currently hosts and executive produces True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here, airing on SundanceTV as well as streaming on AMC+ and All Reality, now entering its third season.
According to the logline, The New Gothic depicts the clash between the ambitious Bloom family and the resurrected Mississippi Mafia in a landscape marred by conflict and power struggles, where villainy thrives.
AMC has a history in gothic storytelling, notably with Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, which includes series such as Interview with the Vampire, set to premiere The Vampire Lestat for its third season later this year, Mayfair Witches, renewed for a third season, and Talamasca: The Secret Order, launched in October.
Burton Morgan will work alongside Gray and Liz DeCesare from Authentic Management Productions in the executive production team. She has also appeared in several AMC series, including The Walking Dead and its spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City, portraying Lucille Smith, the wife of Negan. Her other credits include Council of Dads, Lethal Weapon, and Extant.
