Ex-Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson Share Their Thoughts on Beatrice and Eugenie Celebrating Christmas Without Them

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice embraced royal tradition by celebrating Christmas with the royal family, despite their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, being excluded from the festivities.
A family friend indicated that this choice was expected, stating, "They live and die by the monarchy, so this didn’t surprise me at all. And Andrew and Sarah would have 1,000 percent supported it. Sarah has always said her greatest gift to the monarchy was her girls."
Royal biographer Robert Jobson also reiterated the significance of the event, noting, "You don’t turn down the King’s invitation." He emphasized the importance of attending the royal celebrations, describing the invitation as less of a request and more of a command: "If you have an invitation, you go."
The exclusion of Andrew and Ferguson from the annual gathering at Sandringham marks a notable shift in royal family dynamics following Andrew’s recent controversies, including the stripping of his titles and honors by King Charles last November.
Jobson remarked on the implications of the sisters’ attendance, suggesting that they made the right choice in aligning with the royal family rather than distancing themselves from their parents. Highlighting a proactive approach, he stated, "It’s easy to say this is a snub, but they would say, ‘I’m a royal princess, I’m in line to the throne, I have been invited to attend the King’s Christmas celebrations.’"
In the context of ongoing family tensions, sources reveal that Prince William supports the sisters and believes they "must not be punished for their father’s alleged sins." Jobson conveyed William’s perspective: “His focus is forward, and forward includes the York sisters. A slimmed-down monarchy still needs depth. Beatrice and Eugenie bring steadiness, purpose, and no theatrics.”
As the royal family navigates complex personal dynamics, the decision of Eugenie and Beatrice to participate in the Christmas celebrations underscores their commitment to royal values and traditions.
