Eve Harlow Shares Insights on ‘Watson,’ Her On-Set Skincare Routine, and Why She Loves the ZIIP Microcurrent Device
As CBS’s prime-time lineup intensifies on Mondays, the return of Watson has audiences eager to see what’s next—particularly regarding Eve Harlow’s role. Harlow reprises her captivating performance as Dr. Ingrid Derian, a charismatic and mysterious neurologist whose blend of intellect and enigma made her a standout in the show’s inaugural season.
Watson serves as a modern sequel to the classic Sherlock Holmes narrative, focusing on Dr. John Watson, portrayed by Morris Chestnut, as he navigates a new chapter in his life by diagnosing rare medical conditions that challenge current medical practices. This season, Harlow’s compelling presence promises to elevate the series from a typical procedural to an engaging drama.
Following a dramatic season finale that saw Ingrid removed from her practice, her return in Season 2 is anticipated to bring heightened emotional stakes and intensity. Off-screen, Harlow embodies a contemporary allure—combining intellect, charm, and subtle empowerment—making Watson an anticipated weekly event. In a recent interview, Harlow discussed her experience stepping back into her character and shared insights into her skincare regime.
“Oh my God, it was so exciting. I’ve never been on a show that’s gotten a second season! It’s so exciting for multiple reasons. I love my character. I love our cast and crew. I just feel very lucky that I get to do a second season in these circumstances where everything, just all the checkboxes are checked off,” she expressed.
Addressing the complexities of the show’s medical jargon, Harlow remarked, “The medical jargon is definitely difficult, but it’s also a challenge. But I like challenges! [laughs] I think the fun thing about acting in this career is you never know what you’re going to get next. Every single day is different. When I get the script, I read through it immediately—that’s the first thing I do. What’s medical jargon? How many words do I have? How much do I have to stress out about it?”
As for her daily rituals, Harlow said, “I don’t have a formal ritual when it comes to the end of the day…I think reading helps me a lot. It’s the ultimate escape from your own life and the chance to step into somebody else’s shoes. Even if whatever I’m reading isn’t escapist in terms of being a light subject matter, it’s a way to completely leave your own worries behind and see the world from another person’s perspective.”
On set, she noted, “We use a lot of iS Clinical products. It’s basically just their products that we use on set. They’re great.”
Harlow also shared her fitness journey, saying, “This is really nerdy, but I’ve really gotten into YouTube fitness videos. This past December, I broke my ankle, but before that, I was doing Muay Thai. It was the first fitness regimen I got into that I really enjoyed. Not only do you get physically stronger, but you also walk through the world with more confidence.
When it comes to skincare, Harlow mentioned, “In terms of facial stuff, I have a red-light mask, and I also use one of those ZIIP device things. I’m very into that at the moment.”
Reflecting on her commitment to her skincare routine, she added, “Yes, I know. Same with the red-light mask, which is eight minutes. When I don’t do it, I’m like, ‘Come on, you have eight minutes! You can do this!’”
