Eva Longoria Shares Her Concerns About the WBD-Paramount Merger: Why Consolidation Is Worrying
Eva Longoria has entered the conversation regarding the merger between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount, voicing her concerns about its implications for jobs and diversity within the industry.
In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today program, Longoria remarked, “The consolidation is the scary part of it… especially when you see a consolidation, you see a massive amount of job loss of creatives… because it comes into this siloed system of intake.”
She elaborated on her concerns, saying, “I probably will just pitch one person for, you know, five different buyers, but… pitching to one person… really what happens in that process is innovation dies, diversity dies. It becomes very cookie cutter of like we’re looking for a medical procedure, and then it just becomes about that.”
Longoria, who has been producing and directing under her Hyphenate Media Group since 2016 while continuing her acting career, has a history of collaboration with both studios involved in the merger.

Her remarks emerged shortly after Warner Bros. Discovery announced a shareholder vote scheduled for April 23, marking a significant progression in the merger with Paramount Skydance.
Additionally, on Thursday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to conduct an analysis of the proposed merger, paying particular attention to its effects on the entertainment industry workforce.
When asked about the role of regulators in the merger process, Longoria underscored the need for vigilance, stating, “I think we all need to pay attention to what’s going to happen. Supposedly, it’s going to operate separately still. But you know, who knows?”
